Event: Cheese & Wine Pairing

Following the success of our previous events, we thought our loyal locals and indeed those intrepidly travelling from outside N1, would enjoy a jovial evening in the restaurant dedicated entirely to a selection of interesting cheese and wine.

And in the hope of avoiding disappointment, we will this time be hosting not one but two events – at 7pm on Tuesday 18th September and Wednesday 26th September – to give all those interested in joining a chance to attend.

We are thrilled to be hosting both evenings in close collaboration with Britain’s leading cheesemonger, Paxton & Whitfield. Throughout the event, guests will enjoy six cheeses from different regions in France as they are paired with wine from some of the most well-regarded vineyards in the country.

Taking place in the Upper Room, both events will welcome two compelling hosts – each leading experts in their own field. Tim French first starting working with wine over 22 years ago and today works closely with Corbin & King to curate our wine lists, so there are few better placed to talk through this selection of exceptional wine. Alongside Tim, we are equally fortunate to have a Paxton & Whitfield representative at each event – Spasia Dinkovski & Annie Meakin. Both Spasia and Annie have worked with artisan cheese for years and will educate guests on why each type works particularly well with the accompanying wine.

During the evening, guests will enjoy six distinctive cheeses, from a St Maure goats cheese (on one of our much-loved Tarte Flambée), to a creamy Mothais, subtle Munster, fruity Comte Androuet, nutty St Nectair and a slightly spicy Bleu D’Auvergne. Each cheese course will be paired with a selection of accompaniments from the Bellanger kitchen, including homemade roasted hazelnut puree, fennel jam, apple jelly, rosemary crackers and a spiced pear and saffron chutney.

And with each cheese will come a wine specifically chosen to complement it perfectly. Tim will expertly take guests on a sensory journey around France as we try a fine Pouilly-Fume from the Loire, a crisp Chablis from Burgundy, a remarkable Beaujolais Villages, a leading Fitou from Paziols, a sweet Muscat from the Rhone and no Bellanger tasting would be complete without a wine from Alsace – this time an exceptional crisp Riesling.

With tickets priced at just £40, we hope you are able to join us for what promise to be good-humoured yet informative evenings, championing some of the most interesting cheese and wine from around France.
